  1. A few years back I did the Khan Academy maths. You know how you have forgotten something but there are residues. A bit like the slick of a snail in the morning. Well, some maths from primary and secondary courses were just not there. Not residue, not slick, not echo, nothing, nowt, nada.
    What as a matter of basic education exists in the USA since the 30s became a personal teaching choice in Ireland. And a LOT of the maths Khan was measuring at 8/9 I didn’t see until high school.

  2. Looking through material now, there seems more teaching of concepts than in my schooldays when inordinate amounts of time seemed to be spent looking through books of trigonometry tables.
