This blog started out in May 2004 as an occasional exercise on Blogger. It was called ‘For the fainthearted’, its title coming from words of Saint Paul in the Bible, ” Now we exhort you, brethren, warn those who are unruly, comfort the fainthearted, uphold the weak, be patient with all”. It was to be found at fainthearted.blogspot.com. Posts were fairly infrequent, as seldom as once a month.
As time passed, a momentum grew and by late 2006 there were a handful of new posts each week. The breakthrough came in January 2007 when the company making RTE television’s ‘Capital D’ did a feature about bloggers. (Click on Capital D for a video of a young looking blogger).
Richard O’Connor (Ireland’s most cantankerous aul’ fella), who features on the RTE piece, kindly took me under his wing and relaunched my blog with its very own address in February 2007. For more than decade, his life has been made miserable by my demands upon his time. He completely rebuilt the blog in October 2009 and again in 2017
I don’t know who reads the stuff, but I’m glad someone does, as I said in the RTE interview it’s therapy!
