  1. Talismanic status – flattering, unsought, burdensome and challenging… I imagine.
    I guess it means you can’t even pick your nose while driving – in case: Ah look – the vicar, picking his nose… scandal.

    I was at a seniors’ dinner where all I had done was eat the dinner – I hadn’t even be called upon to say grace – and got a round of applause for being there!

  3. The talismanic status (:) even extends to a priests household – when as a young man I visited the pub in the Dorset village where my father was Rector, folk would apologise for swearing in my presence!
