  1. Timely post Ian as archaeologists carefully sift through a suspected mass grave of Aussie soldiers in Fromelle where they were unceremoniously dumped after a failed battle with the Germans. It’s unlikely any will be identified. They were sent to distract the Germans whilst the main offensive forged through the Somme.

  2. The sergeant commemorated on the tablet died at Gallipoli with men of the 10th (Irish) Division, alongside ANZACS – it was all so pointless.
