I was listening to the start of Paddy O’Gorman’s piece on Sean O’Rourke earlier (will listen to remainder later) but there was a comment that although attendance at church for traditional weekly/daily services is falling, attendance at pilgrimages to the likes of Loch Derg and Croagh Patrick; cemetry masses/ masses of remembrance; and ceremonies and holy wells and mass rocks are increasing in terms of numbers attending.

  2. That would accord with what I have seen happening – cemetery masses can gather crowds that would fill football grounds.

    John Peel was right. People want something mystical and transcendent – not Lovely Thoughts!
