Sermon for the 5th Sunday after the Epiphany — 2 Comments

  1. Rector,
Is there no obvious candidate for the creation of the observable Universe ex nihilo? We pretend to be able to know by natural philosophy or faith the ends of Nature, but the question is ‘shall we know, serve, and love Christ’.
“That they should seek the Lord … and find him … For in Him we live, and move, and have our being” (Acts 17:27-28)

  2. Of course, for Christians there is an obvious candidate, but we must be able to do more than say, ‘we believe because we believe’. Paul’s words to the crowd in Athens are part of his attempt to engage with the people there in the terms of their own cosmology. The church needs to take up Paul’s example.
