  1. Indeed.

    Although it did lead to his resignation from the government and his return to the trenches where he was a reckless about his own safety as he had been about the safety of others, carrying out no less than thirty-six night raids into No Man’s Land to gather information and take prisoners.

  2. I’m not sure that would have counted for a lot with the ANZACS. Still I suppose persistance in the face of adversity was a help in WW2.

  3. Pig-headedness and a complete lack of self-awareness seem to have sustained him a lot of the time.
